hands and feet

what happens when one gets the urge to take a photo late at night, but don't feel like venturing out into the cold wet darkness...

peaceful sounds
I went down to Scarborough last week for some desperately needed R&R (thanks sooooo much for the use of your lovely house Ian!) and spent a couple of days learning how to relax again, strolling on the beach & wandering around the hills, listening to the sound of the waves pushing foam over the sand and the frogs chirping for mates in the streams, rain splooshing over the roof and the wind gently pushing the clouds that uncovered the stars as they continue their journey south...
just after sunset, perfectly soft dusk light illuminates the view of Cape Point National Park from the beach boardwalk at Scarborough

storm
Last weekend a massive storm hit the Cape, blasting the coast with 10 metre swells, 90km per hour winds and dumping plenty of snow in the mountains! Naturally I had to go out and have a look, being just the kind of conditions I usually thrive on! At one point the wind gusted so hard that even though I was running with it, my legs couldn't match the speed that the top of me was going and it knocked me over!
Below Misty Cliffs the waves were depositing sea foam high on the shore, covering the fynbos with a surreal wobbling mass of snowy fluff. The Crayfish Factory, in the background, was completely flooded! (taken with the best camera there is: the one I had with me at the time, which in this case was my camerathatmakesphonecalls)
